Job Description Summary
Webster University has a position available for a Groundskeeper within the Facility Operations Department to perform various groundskeeping duties such as cultivating gardens, maintenance of landscaping, standard plant disease and pest prevention, snow removal and maintenance of walkways and parking areas.

Minimum Qualifications
Class E Driver's License
Basic knowledge of practices, work methods, tools, and equipment associated with the grounds keeping trade.
Ability to operate hand and power tools associated with the groundskeeping field.
Ability to follow detailed, written and oral instructions.
Ability to exercise basic human relation skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the University community.

Preferred Qualifications
3-4 years experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance or nursery work is preferred.

Physical Demands
Lift, push, or pull up to 75 lbs.
Have the ability to exercise precaution in the handling of materials such as acid, cement, compressed air, mechanical and electrical hazards.
May be exposed to dust, fumes, and odoriferous working conditions.
Wear protective clothing such as a back brace, facemask, rubber gloves, and steel-toed shoes.
Crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for long periods of time.
Walk over the campus.
Work outside during inclement weather.

Essential Duties
Develops and constructs landscape designs through acquisition of materials and personnel.
Maintains various lawns throughout the campus by fertilizing and applying proper pesticide and herbicide treatments, watering, mowing, trimming, raking, and clearing debris.
Collects garbage throughout the campus and disposes waste by appropriate procedures and methods.
Trims trees and bushes and operates safety equipment.
Plants various bushes and flowers throughout the campus.
Operates various grounds keeping hand tools and equipment such as back hoe, leaf and snow blowers, lawn mowers, and vehicles.
Maintains gardening supplies and recommends new equipment.
Assists with snow and ice removal.
Assists with various shipping and receiving duties such as logging of incoming shipments and delivering and picking up of material, as needed.
Assists with various general maintenance duties such as moving and assembling furniture and electrical wiring installation, as needed.

Full Time (>30 hrs/wk) or Part Time (<30 hrs/wk): Full Time
