Departmental Overview

Facilities Services works to maintain a campus built environment that is conducive to teaching, learning and research. We strive to continuously improve the campus in partnership with all members of the campus community. Facilities Services is comprised of the following units: Campus Recycling and Refuse Services, Custodial Services, Environmental Services, Grounds Operations, Shops, Quality Assurance & Customer Service, Sustainability and Engineering Services and People's Park.

Responsibilities
  • Support renewal and maintenance projects and activities performed by internal staff and external vendors Assist with the prioritization of Facilities Services work and coordinate with staff to effectively execute the work.
  • Monitor quality and performance of regional work done by trades staff helping to understand short term and long term repairs, analyzing ROI and advocating for best approach.
  • Work with internal staff, external consultants and architectural/engineering firms to develop facility and project requirements for the region.
  • Monitor tenant improvement and deferred maintenance projects done in a region Work with Capital Strategies, Building Services, & FS IT group of project close-out documents and getting warranty information entered into system of record.
  • Maintain data on facility condition, life cycle and project costs, renewal plans and planned and completed projects for the region.
  • Review and manage regional work activities, and act as liaison among region participants, resolving problems or conflicts.
  • Communicate to campus and regional leadership regarding region activities and issues Data analysis of asset preventative maintenance in the region.
  • Work with Preventative Maintenance & Corrective Maintenance Operations to update assets Identify and prioritize renewal projects and requirements as assigned.
  • Have a working knowledge of pain points within assigned campus region and work with Asset Management Team, Other Facilities Service Units and Building Facilities Personnel on prioritization of issues.
  • Work with Capital Renewal program manager to coordinate inclusion in and funding from the program.
  • Perform organizational, campus and administrative activities not directly relating to projects, including serving on campus committees representing the region.
  • Inspect equipment throughout region, label with system asset label, update databases with most current information, submit WO's for repairs as needed Coordinate with campus units on MOU's to clearly define levels of service or special agreements.
  • Both parties must agree in principal to the tenets of the MOU; get authorizing signatures and work with AM team for a central depository and access rights so it be referenced when needed or for clarification.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work in machine room environments, which may be hot/cold, dirty and have poor connectivity.
  • Must be able to adjust schedule as campus needs require, identify major building equipment components and follow all safety processes and protocols.
  • Thorough skills in problem recognition / avoidance /resolution.
  • Thorough organizational and analytical skills including skill to provide high quality control.
  • Detail oriented to accurately proof contracts and other documents.
  • Thorough written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills including high level political acumen.
  • Proven ability to manage contractors and maintain compliance to the agreed-upon scope of work and budget.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough working knowledge of or ability to learn building and construction, design, construction contract administration and California Building Codes, including full understanding of industry practices.
  • Thorough project management skills, including skill to manage complex projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of or ability to learn the organization, including its infrastructure and short and long range strategic building plans.

Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $77,300.00 - $113,600.00. For information on the comprehensive benefits package offered by the University visit:
