Job Description:


Western Illinois University seeks a strategic and mission-oriented collaborator and leader to serve as Assistant Vice President for Facilities Management ("Assistant Vice President" or "AVP") as the principal facilities administrator at the University. The position reports to the Vice President for Finance and Administration and is a key campus leader. The Assistant Vice President will provide strategic leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight to the entire range of functions and services involved in the effective development and management of the University's facilities and campus properties.

The AVP is accountable for overseeing complex financial components for facilities planning, design and construction, architectural and engineering services, remodeling and capital renewal programs, building, mechanical, and grounds maintenance, heating plant, energy management, sustainability, asset management, and transportation. Responsible for a team of more than 160 skilled professionals, many of whom are represented by four unions, the AVP will continue to build a healthy culture of collaboration, teamwork, transparency, and openness throughout the entire campus.

To be successful, the Assistant Vice President will take a strategic and innovative approach in all areas of the University's facilities infrastructure to ensure that decision-making is consistently, accurately, and effectively driven by strategic data and analysis. The AVP will serve as a leader who fosters a culture that highly values customer service, engagement, communication, and responsiveness to faculty, students, and staff, and who successfully develops and maintains relationships at all levels of the University and in the broader community.

APPOINTMENT: November 1, 2021 or negotiated start date.

COMPENSATION: A competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be provided to the successful candidate.

Requirements:


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum of three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a facilities related environment providing leadership, management, and supervision of facilities services functions including regulations and policies regarding facilities management, facilities planning, grounds, and related areas.
Demonstrated ability to work productively and collaboratively in a large institutional environment with a commitment to quality, customer service, staff development, and safety.
Training and experience in project management and budget management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution.
Progressively responsible administrative experience in a higher education setting.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).

WIU-Macomb, IL (Student Population: 6,432): A traditional, residential four-year campus offering a comprehensive slate of undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education, WIU-Macomb is located in the heart of west central Illinois in Macomb (population 20,000). Amtrak provides twice-daily service from Macomb to Chicago (and point in-between). Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70 miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,192): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL.
