POSITION SUMMARY

Uses advanced concepts to implement and coordinates building management procedures which require specialized consideration and with special circumstances (e.g., special ventilation, or use of hazardous materials) or coordination of activities with multiple building occupants / departments. Facilitates and collaborates with management on building system projects, EH&S activities and general repair and replacement of building systems activities. Applies extensive knowledge of organization buildings, infrastructure, policies and procedures. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. May mentor and train peers and supporting staff members.

Responsibilities

Coordinates EH&S activities for the department in all UCOP buildings including hazardous materials, risk management, collaboration on ergonomic and business continuity planning activities. Coordinates with multiple units throughout the organization to provide a safe and secure facilities environment. Heads and Ensures Warden Program is in place and compliance with safety programs for federal, state, and UC Policies are met.

Works with internal and external agencies / contractors as needed in regards to contract terms or to solicit or write contracts per University's standards.

Applies advanced concepts in serving as liaison with organization and external agencies regarding safety, access, maintenance, remodeling and construction activities of multiple building occupants / departments and / or buildings with complex needs.

Assists in developing budgets for management review to include moves with significant building infrastructure upgrades. Writes and Manages construction/maintenance contracts for UVOP owned buiildings.

Provides excellent customer service for work order responses, collects and publishes management metrics for facility subjects, develops recurring system maintenance schedules and provides liaison to outside organizations including governmental agencies, contractors, vendors and visitors.

Works with organization occupants and space planner to accommodate routine & non-routine systems and / or research or specialized equipment, and hazardous materials storage and disposal. Collaborates with department leadership on development of space planning; evaluates and advises on the design and allocation.

Coordinates emergency repairs during and after work hours.

Develops procedures using a combination of original and standard professional approached/techniques to solve substantive, complex problems with multiple variables.

Performs complex technical work in one or more of the following fields. Office safety, ergonomics, environmental health pest management, controlled substances, environ mental protection, fire safety, hazardous material control, and hazardous waste management(including shipping).

Performs or directs outreach and communication to organization with relevant field(s).

Required Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge in the areas of building facility management, project management and engineering, building codes, capacity, security, fire safety, organization and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
  • Specific experience with complex building systems including building automation systems, work order tracking and management, security and access controls and life safety systems.
  • Experience with Environmental Health and Safety management, emergency response procedures, business continuity planning.
  • .Advanced skills in working collaboratively and influencing others
  • Advanced skill to multi-task and effectively prioritize large project work.
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural or engineering concepts and skills to assess processes or services to make improvements and in project management.
  • Advanced knowledge and skill regarding specialized research needs in space planning and advanced skill to effectively translate needs to professional architects and engineers.
    Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
    License/Certifications
  • High Rise Safety Director Certification

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: The recommended hiring range is: $98,000 to $115,000. Commensurate with experience.
