POSITION SUMMARY

Covered under University series concept / job specification for classification 8211. Under direction, incumbents supervise and coordinate the work of Senior Building Maintenance Workers and Building Maintenance Workers who work independently or as part of a regular maintenance crew. Works on operational and/or procedural assignments that require the exercise of considerable discretion and independent judgment. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.

The Move and Installation Lead is responsible for executing all moves and installation of materials, furniture, accessories and equipment for UCOP Building and Administrative Services in support of space management, occupancy planning, event services and facility management.

Responsibilities

40%

Performs moves of materials and equipment within and between UCOP facility locations in the Oakland Consolidated Campus and between the campus and external storage sites or other Bay Area locations. Performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks related to the installation of office furniture, systems furniture and common office items such as shelves, whiteboards, video monitors and other items.

30%

Performs variety of semi skilled maintenance, alteration and repair activities of buildings and related facilities and equipment. Including but not limited to patching & painting assignments, luminaire replacement, equipment assembly and repair, painting asphalt, floors or similar surfaces performance of pressure washing and grafitti removal.

10%

Performs basic building, furniture and equipment repairs, such as cleaning, maintaining or replacing door closers, locks, latches, hinges and other building hardware. Makes repairs to fences and gates.

10%

Removes and replaces plumbing fixtures, clear drains and stoppages in sinks and toilets.

5%

Drives a truck or other light vehicle in the course of duties.

Operates and maintains a variety of power and hand tools of the various trades.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal communications; ability to instruct and mentor lower level staff, provide input on hiring, performance and disciplinary decisions.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks; may also prioritize work for lower level incumbents.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude.
  • Advanced ability to perform semi-skilled building maintenance work.
    Education
  • Four years of experience in the performance of semi-skilled building maintenance duties, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience as a leader or experience performing lead duties is preferred.


SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: The recommended hiring range is $26.05 to $36.44. Commensurate with experience
