Job Description
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Operations and the Environmental Services Coordinator, this position specializes in communication, assessing, rebuilding, and restoring damaged property after man-made and/or natural disasters. The position is responsible for identifying and communicating what can be restored, salvaged, or repaired, and what needs to be disposed of and replaced. This position will perform documentation, reporting, project monitoring, communication with stakeholders, contractors, Risk Management, Insurance adjustors and ultimately work through the invoicing and payment process. Duties for this role are assigned by the Environmental Services Coordinator and may include fire restoration services, damage mitigation, site inspection, cleaning, mold remediation, carpet cleaning, water extraction, debris disposal, and property restoration. Within the first 6 months of employment, this individual must obtain the IICRC (Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) to successfully perform inspections, cleaning, and restoration services. The Environmental Services Technician must hold a Category 7 pest control certification, C14 microbial pest control certification, IICRC, and Asbestos Inspector License.
Responsibilities
- Responds to various remediation issues, such as fire, water, mold, and weather disasters.
- Under the direction and coordination of the Environmental Services Coordinator, will carry out a variety of restoration services, including assessing, cleaning, disposing, and repairing the University's many unique buildings.
- Cleaning and storing salvageable belongings and property
- Removing and replacing damaged drywall, plumbing, and related materials
- Performing water mitigation and extraction services
- Decontaminating and deodorizing indoor spaces and repairing and restoring the structure
- Performs computer related duties, such as record keeping and completing work request in the current workflow management system.
- Assist with Pest Services and/or Moving and Event Services as needed.
- Performs asbestos inspections both at the sight of remediation issues, and at other renovation sites across campus.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Experience:
- No job experience required.
- Category 7 pest control certification required within first 6 months
- Asbestos Inspector License required within first year
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to respond to continually changing priorities
- Continuously observe and evaluate operations to identify problems and/or opportunities for improvement
- Knowledge and understanding of OSHA safety standards
- Computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word)
