Systems Maintenance Mechanic
Job Summary
This position will primarily service commercial HVAC cooling equipment of a variety of manufacturers up to 2,000 tons including associated cooling towers for some systems.
Performs routine and preventative maintenance, analyzes mechanical and/or electrical problems, and makes adjustments, repairs, replacements, or other corrective actions to ensure the continuous and safe functioning of equipment in the specified area of expertise.
Responsibilities
1. Operates, repairs, overhauls, services, and maintains equipment in the area of expertise.
2. Performs regularly scheduled preventive maintenance work on equipment.
3. Helps in designing and implementing mechanical or electrical alterations to new and existing equipment in order to improve efficiency, performance, and/or extend the life of equipment.
4. May ensure that equipment meets all regulatory compliance requirements mandated by local, state and federal agencies.
5. Maintains clean equipment rooms and other areas.
6. Maintains equipment performance and repair records.
7. If leadworker status is assigned, may give work direction, establish priorities, or instruct Systems Maintenance Mechanics or other personnel.

Minimum Qualifications
Depending on the area of assignment, three years of maintenance and repair experience, or equivalency, in one or more of the following areas is required: pipefitting; heating, air conditioning, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), and steam-operated systems; pneumatic and electronic building control systems; plumbing and refrigeration systems; commercial/industrial laundry equipment; sterilizing equipment; gas/diesel engines and generators; kitchen and cafeteria equipment; mechanical and electrical troubleshooting; and welding. The ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations, effective human relations and communications skills, and demonstrated computer proficiency essential.
Incumbents who specialize in refrigeration and air conditioning systems must complete a two year vocational schooling program; possess Environmental Protection Agency certification with a Universal permit to handle refrigerants; and demonstrate a high level of technical expertise. A boiler license may be required for some positions.

Preferences
Highly competitive applicants will:
- Have at least 3 years experience on York, Trane and/or Carrier water-cooled chillers ranging from 50 to 2,000 tons
- Have at least 5 years experience on a wide variety of air-cooled cooling units
- Have at least 5 years experience using one or more building automation systems
- Have at least 3 year experience working on cooling towers and pumps

Work Schedule Summary: Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm. Will also take turn being "on-call" for two weeks at a time
