Director, Facilities Operations

Job Description
Great Basin College (GBC) in Elko, Nevada seeks a collaborative leader for the Director, Facilities Operations. This position reports to the Director, Satellite Campus Facilities at the University of Nevada, Reno. This position is based at the Elko campus and may require some travel and overnight stays to other GBC locations.

The Director will have the primary responsibility of managing day-to-day activities of the Buildings & Grounds Department including central receiving.Great Basin College has classroom, administrative, and student housing buildings and/or areas.

This position supervises the custodial, maintenance, and grounds personnel and related activities. Other responsibilities include the oversight of deferred maintenance, remodel, and construction projects.

The Director will interact with federal, state and local officials and be responsible for adhering to laws and regulations.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work well with others, be willing to learn new skills, and have professional oral and written communication skills.

Required Qualifications

Associates Degree or higher in a related field
Previous experience in a related building, maintenance or construction practices and preventative maintenance procedures
Experience working with and monitoring budgets and spending
Previous supervisory experience
A valid Class "C" driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment

Preferred Qualifications

General knowledge of grounds keeping and snow removal
General knowledge of plant diseases and pest and weed control
General knowledge of pesticide and herbicide applications and safety procedures
Functional knowledge and skills in the practice of wall framing, drywall installation & repair, drywall texture application and painting
Functional knowledge and skill in the practice of repairing stucco and Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS)
General knowledge and understanding of operation and maintenance of commercial heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) systems
Project management experience
Ability to learn the operation of automated building HVACR and lighting control systems
Ability to prioritize and allocate time appropriately among many users requesting assistance
Ability to use and or learn basic word processing, spreadsheet, work order and email computer software.
Ability to read and understand blueprints and other construction related calculations

This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and/or move various furniture and equipment, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Compensation

Annual salary range is $75,500 - $85,000 commensurate with experience and education.

Benefits

Nevada System of Higher Education benefits package includes a 401(a) defined contribution retirement plan with employees contributing 15.50 % and a matching 15.50% from the employer, medical/dental/vision plan, benefit time, 11 paid holidays, and tuition waiver at Nevada System of Higher Education colleges for the employee and family. There is no state income tax in Nevada.
