Position Description
Situated on the ancestral homeland of the Tongva Peoples, Chaffey College is one of the oldest community colleges inCalifornia and serves a variety of communities, workforce partners, and students. Acts as the evening supervisor of maintenance and operations. Assists with planning, organizing and supervising the District's buildings, facilities, construction activities, and maintenance equipment/supplies; supervises, trains, and evaluates the work performance of assigned personnel; assists in overseeing the planning and preparations for college events; works collaboratively with management colleagues; and performs related duties as required.
Responsibilities
- Assists with planning, organizing, prioritizing, implementing, and overseeing maintenance and operations.
- Assists with planning and supervising maintenance, preventive maintenance, construction, repair and special projects related to electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, locksmithing and painting; assure proper troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of system and equipment problems and malfunctions; inspect buildings, equipment, and utility systems to determine or schedule proper maintenance and repairs.
- Assists with establishing and overseeing annual and monthly plans of scheduled activities to implement the maintenance, repair, cleaning and care of District buildings and facilities; assure preparations for college events.
- Plans, directs, oversees, schedules, and evaluates personnel.
- Interviews and participates in the selection, discipline and promotion decisions.
- Inspects work in progress and assures compliance of completed work with established timelines, standards, policies and procedures; inspects facilities and equipment to ensure standards and resources are properly maintained.
- Trains staff on policies, work methods, materials, use of equipment and technology, safety, and computerized work order system, and building automation systems; trains staff on the use of the college's work order system (School Dude) and other systems.
- Assists with the development and oversight of the District fire alarm, intrusion system, and energy conservation program to include all utilities and refuse collection.
- Communicates with district staff about routine and special needs; assists with the resolution of operational and performance issues and conflicts as necessary.
- Consults with administrators, managers, outside agencies, and other concerning building maintenance and repair projects and activities;
- Assists with the preparation, administration, and monitoring of budgets, as assigned;
- May coordinate and/or oversee the hazardous materials control program;
- Responds to and coordinates responses to emergency calls, as needed; inspects sites for maintenance and/or cleaning required.
- Assists with the maintenance and control of janitorial equipment and supplies and preventative maintenance plan; evaluates and makes recommendations for purchase of new equipment; orders supplies as necessary.
- Operates district vehicles as required.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of this would be completion of college coursework from an accredited college or university, three years' experience working in a related field, and one year in a lead capacity.
- Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of a community college environment.
- Possession of a California Driver's License.
- Principles, practices, and techniques of maintaining modern college buildings in a clean, safe, and sanitary state.
- Principles and practices of effective management of facilities construction, renovation, maintenance, repair, and sanitation.
- Principles and practices of effective supervision.
- Knowledge of and ability to enforce applicable health and safety regulations.
- Manage and direct the activities of assigned personnel and contractors, when assigned.
- Relevant computer software applications.
- Applicable health and safety regulations, safe work practices, and safety equipment.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing, and establish cooperative working relationships with staff, administrators, faculty, students, regulatory agencies, contractors, and others encountered in the course of performing required duties.
- Perform a variety of responsible duties related to the management of operations maintenance services.
- Plan, organize, schedule, assign and review operations work and projects.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate personnel.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Positions in this classification may be required to work varied hours according to need.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, 12-month position; Level IV, Range 11 of the Management Personnel Plan. Effective date ofemployment will be as soon as a successful candidate is selected and a mutually agreed upon date is determined. Being able and ready to work onsite at a Chaffey facility or location is an essential function of this job. Being able andready to work in-person with Chaffey students, Chaffey employees, or other members of the Chaffey community/Chaffeypartners/Chaffey contractors is an essential function of this job.
