Assistant Superintendent - Maintenance Craftsperson

Position Summary:
The Assistant Superintendent Maintenance Craftsperson reports directly to the Superintendent of Maintenance and Conversions and provides supervision, daily workflow guidance and direction, and assistance to the Sr. Maintenance Craftspersons. This position is responsible for the general maintenance functions and facility conversions for buildings stewarded by Events and Support Services including but not limited to: the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center, Bruce Pitman Center, Idaho Commons as well as the SprintTurf, Guy Wicks Varsity Soccer Pitch and the Dan O'Brien Outdoor Track. Responsibilities include oversight of: major facility conversions; maintenance routines and equipment repair associated with building operations; troubleshooting mechanical problems with equipment and completing necessary repairs; and creating a work environment that emphasizes customer service, teamwork, safety and the protection/preservation of all stewarded facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Degree or equivalent and at least five (5) years supervisory experience.
Verifiable knowledge of: carpentry, plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance.
Ability to work weekends during major events, setups and strikes
Verifiable Experience: performing skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and building maintenance repair; using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, and electrical work; reading blueprints and schematics.
Some knowledge of: HVAC and mechanical systems maintenance; building codes.
Basic ability to operate and maintain various work related vehicles and equipment (i.e.: trucks, forklifts, scissor-lifts, tractors, etc.)
Education sufficient to provide adequate skills in math, reading, problem solving, and oral and written communications
Basic computer literacy

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to complete several projects simultaneously; ability to effectively work with several university support units, facility users, and management
Two years verifiable experience related to building maintenance and operations in an institutional setting.
Documented knowledge of general building safety codes relating to fire doors, electrical safety, egress routes, emergency lights, fume exhaust systems, etc.
Verifiable ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; use good public relations skills, read and interpret blue prints; keep records pertaining to job functions and assigned areas.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Ability to lift or otherwise move up items weighing approximately 50 lbs., bending, stooping, shoveling, and climbing ladders up to 100 ft. Possess valid drivers license Able and willing to work on ladders, lifts, scaffolding etc.
