Electrical / Maintenance Technician II



The Electrical / Maintenance Tech performs electrical work related to the installation, maintenance, relocation, repair, and expansion of Ringling College owned facilities and equipment, including underground and overhead services. This position may also perform preventative and repair maintenance relative to general painting, carpentry, plumbing, and HVAC systems of the College, as well as other general maintenance duties as assigned.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Possess skills on electrical systems including, but not limited to, the following: building, installing, testing, adapting and performing preventive maintenance on complex electronic and electrical components and ensuring that all components adhere to national and state codes.

  2. Proficient in using various computer programs including and/or equivalent to Microsoft Office suites and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  3. Possess a working knowledge of preventative maintenance in areas such as complex electronic and electrical components.

  4. Able to make emergency electrical repairs; use various electrical meters & construct and install power supplies.

  5. Ability to examine blueprints for correct electrical wiring and determination of proper load limits.

  6. Ability to understand and interpret standard safety procedures.

  7. Knowledge of electrical safety practices as laid out in the NFPA 70-E standard for electrical safety in the workplace.

  8. Knowledge of and familiarity with requirements of the National Electric Code (NEC).

  9. Ability to receive and execute work instructions efficiently and accurately.

  10. This job may require the need to be on call and or work overtime as circumstances dictate.

  11. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the campus community.




This position comes into regular contact with co-workers and supervisors along with occasional and casual contact with visitors, students, staff members, faculty, etc. while performing the duties of the job; and requires a criminal background check. This position requires advanced knowledge of proper usage for a variety of power equipment and tools, which are learned on the job and through required training. This job requires physical abilities such as trunk strength, manual dexterity, and wrist-finger movement.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an Electrician Program at an accredited Trade School (NCCER Level 4 Electrical certification or equivalent), or equivalent experience and certifications.

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License.




Required: Background and motor vehicle report.



Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm; additional hours as business necessitates



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed as an electrician in the State of Florida.



  • Appropriate license to maintain and repair fire alarm systems.
